Five Years!!!
Today, I am going to be recognized for having completed 5 years in my organization. For many, it might not be a big deal completing 5 years in the same place. For the person working in the BPO industry in Bangalore, on the other hand, it is a rarity.
It was in July 2006 that I completed my 5 years actually, but in typical cost-cutting measure being exercised everywhere, the felicitation happens only twice in a year. Also, after the initial few glitzy affairs, it is now held at the office cafeteria. Having said all that, I still feel it is somewhat of an achievement to have completed 5 years in the same organization. I won't say the temptation hasn't been there to leave it all and go somewhere else. When things aren't going for you or when you haven't earned what you were expecting, the urge has been rather strong. Even then, there has been a kind of magnetic pull that the company exerts. I don't know whether I'm a compliant slave to it or a person struggling in vain against it. Whatever it is, I should say, I have had more good moments here than otherwise. It has provided me with avenues to explore the creative side of mine. The company has also provided me forums for extra-curricular activities to divert my attention from the pressures of work.
About the not so happy things here, well, let's not get into all that. I don't waste much chance in criticisms generally, but let me not bring it today, of all days. Just to twist the Bard's lines about the evil living after and the good getting interred in the bones, I've listed out only the better things that have happened.
